Jacqueline Mwangi (Kenya)

Jacqueline Mwangi is a seasoned player who has played for the Kenya National team (since 2002) and Blazers Hockey team (since 2007). She is currently a member of the FIH Athletes Committee, FIH Development committee and the Current Chairperson of the AfHF Athletes Committee. She works with Hillcrest International School in Nairobi as a Sports teacher, and has served as a national team assistant coach. Her passion for the game has made her one of the most prolific strikers for her club and country. Every season, in the last ten years, she has been the highest scorer in the Kenya Premier League. She has also been instrumental in assisting her team win the coveted ACCC title 5 times, and over 15 League titles. She was recently awarded the Kenya Sports Journalist Athlete of the Month for December 2019. She has a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Technology with a concentration in Cyber Security and Forensics from USIU- Africa and is currently pursuing a Master in Education from the University of South Wales. Her vision as an Athlete committee member is to give each hockey player the opportunity to be the best they can be; while assisting in creating an atmosphere for excellence in which individual players and teams can prepare and perform for competitions effectively. Her experience as a Teacher, Coach and Player has enabled her to instill in others the importance of healthy living, hard work and discipline. Passing this down to talented young players in her country and the world is something that she’s passionate about as she believes that Hockey can be used to positively change communities. |
