South African Hockey has today announced the South African U21 Women’s team for the Junior African Cup of Nations in Egypt. The team will play a warmup series against India U21 as well.
The 2023 Hockey Junior Africa Cup will take place from the 12-19 March 2023 in Ismailia in Egypt. The top two teams will qualify for the FIH Hockey Junior Cup in Santiago in Chile. The Chile tournament is the 10th edition of the tournament with the South African team looking to add to their 7th place finish in 2022 at home.
The team selected has a number of Internationally capped players including the likes of Kayla Swarts, Morgan de Jager, Nstopa Mokeona and Taheera Augousti. Daniella de Oliviera, Laiken Brisset and Cerian Fourie (Reserve) were part of the SA Indoor Hockey side that competed in the FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in Pretoria.
